This is important, since you're expecting it to withstand constant sliding of clothes hangers.Cutting Pro-TipWrap the cut area with a few layers of painters' tape. Mark the length with a pencil, then use a square to draw a perpendicular cut line. If using an electric jigsaw, the tape will protect the rod from damage. If using a hand hacksaw, the blade will "dig into" the tape as you start the cut, preventing it from wandering. Once the cut is done, remove any burrs with a file or medium-grit sandpaper, and you're good to go! Then take a step back and admire your good work!
